Duties: The Environmental Health Department is responsible for the environmental health for the citizens of Jefferson County.

Sanitarian Duties:

  • Specify, permit and inspect all new septic systems.

    The Notice of Intent Form is on the DNR website
    This form goes to the County Sanitarian.

  • Consult on RUSS (Regional Utility Service Systems) program.
  • Conducts well-water testing.
  • Coordinate Radon Mitigation Workshops for Contractors - call for information.
