(Dec 9, 2011) Volunteer of the Year Announced

In a community like Fairfield which is known throughout the state for its level of volunteerism, being named the Fairfield Volunteer of the Year has special meaning.  This year's Volunteer of the Year was announced at Thursday's Fairfield Entrepreneurs Association Awards Banquet.

Recipient of this year's award was Larry Nash.  Larry has amassed over 400 hours of volunteer service over the past two years working on the Maasdam Barn and Welcome Center project.  He started with the Maasdam Barn restoration nearly a decade ago, putting his carpentry skills to work along with fundraising and securing grants to help with the project.

Nash has served as Chairman of the Maasdam Barn project since 2007 and has also been very active with the Jefferson County Trails system.  Nash said he was humbled by the award and it's really representative of a great group of people who pool their talents together and give of their time to complete projects.
